My Hunger Games Casting

Oh booo---frickin---hoo!  I am so irritated about reading all over the Internet how people are so upset with the choices for the leads in the Hunger Games.  There are a few causes for concern; which are:

1. That they are not teenagers...they are 18-20.  Do you know how much money the studio will save not hiring actors under 18?  Minors have to have tutors on set, have to take a certain amount of breaks and can only work for 6 hours a day.  And this film only has a budget of $60 mil....(not much more than what Twilight had).  So I totally support the hiring of adult actors who have the time to make this film happen.

2.  The three leads are not "olive-toned skin" or supposedly ethnic, as described in the books.  Get over it!  Remember...the Hunger takes place hundreds of years from now....a time when races and ethnicity's are so mixed that it will not impact how the movie plays out.

I read an article on the Internet of the director, Gary Ross, and the author, Suzanne Collins, making statements, defending the casting choices.  Whatever idea anyone had in their head about who should play these parts....the AUTHOR had a say in the matter and that is what counts.  i definitely had reservations about Liam Hemsworth as Gale...I think we should give the actors a chance...because obviously the studio, Lionsgate, feel they are right for a movie that is going to be so huge, we all need to give them a chance too.

Now that the three leads have been cast.  There is so much speculation of who will fill other important roles in the movie.  I am still thinking a lot about Rue, the rest of the design team, Katniss' family but here are some of my choices:
Haymitch: Robert Downey Jr. or I just saw Philip Seymour Hoffman as a good choice.
Cinna:  Hugh Dancy hands down!!!
Effie:  Elizabeth Banks or Emily Blunt (rumor is Emily Blunt has auditioned).  People are saying Kristin Chenoweth, but I totally think she is all wrong.
Cato: Stanislav Ianevski is a thought.

Anywho....I am definitely going to keep up with news from the hunger games.

PS...a pretty darn good FANMADE trailer is up on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn_QWiYQE-8
